A safe space for girls in Ruli

In 2024, we cooperated with the Arne Friedrich Foundation to build a much-needed girls’ room at the primary school in Ruli – a safe place where students can relax, take care of themselves, and get supplies during their periods.

After intensive discussions with teachers Marie and Virginie, it became clear that more than just four walls were needed. Thanks to our financial support, hygiene products, underwear, soap, and a water dispenser could now be purchased.

Together with our partner organization OSO, we also conducted interactive hygiene training. Thirty girls and their teachers learned practical skills for confidently managing menstruation, personal hygiene, and cycle tracking—and are now passing this knowledge on to others.

The goal:

No girl should be excluded from school because of her period.

The enthusiasm and gratitude during the training show that this project not only improves health and education, but also boosts the girls’ self-confidence.

We are proud to be working with the Arne Friedrich Foundation and OSO to make a lasting contribution to the dignity and future of young girls in Ruli.
